Deeper Meaning—The Revelation

Intrinsic Significance—The Accomplishments of Christ’s Resurrection

The Many Sons of God and the Many Brothers of Christ

In Christ’s resurrection, God regenerated His believers together with Christ in one great, corporate birth to be the many sons of God and the many brothers of Christ (1 Peter 1:3; Romans 8:29; John 20:17). First Peter 1:3 states, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has regenerated us unto a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (emphasis added). When Christ was resurrected, all His believers were regenerated.

All the believers, including the early apostles and those who will be the last to believe in the Lord Jesus, were regenerated together. They were all brought forth by means of a single universal delivery. In Christ’s resurrection millions of God’s sons were born. (Witness Lee, Conclusion, 794)

When Christ was resurrected, all His believers were regenerated.

The birth that took place through Christ’s resurrection involved the birth of the Firstborn Son of God along with all the many sons of God. Through one birth, one delivery, many sons were brought forth. According to God’s view, the divine view, all His chosen people were born together with Christ in His resurrection almost two thousand years ago (793-794). “These many sons are God’s chosen people; the millions of them were all regenerated in the same resurrection” (Witness Lee, Crystallization, 10).

Before His resurrection, He called His disciples “slaves” and “friends”.
On the day of resurrection, He called them “brothers”.

On the day of His resurrection, the Lord Jesus specifically said to Mary, “Go to My brothers and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and My God and your God” (John 20:17b emphasis added). The Gospel of John records that before His resurrection, the Lord had never called His disciples “brothers.” “Before His resurrection, He called His disciples ‘slaves’ and ‘friends’ (John 15:14,15). On the day of resurrection, He called them ‘brothers’” (Witness Lee, Seven, 26). The Lord was able to address the disciples as His brothers because through His resurrection, they were regenerated with His life. “It was through His resurrection that Christ imparted Himself as the Spirit into His disciples. By receiving His life, they were reborn and became His brothers. Now the believers are brothers of Christ because they have the same life as He.”(Witness Lee, Conclusion, 613) All Christ’s believers have thus become the many sons of God and Christ’s many brothers.
